Our Story

Cascades Manor was originally built in 1932 in the beautiful Sparks Foundation Park in southwest Jackson, Michigan as a clubhouse for the 18-hole championship Cascades Golf Course and named The Cascades Clubhouse. The park was a gift to Jackson County from the William and Matilda Sparks Foundation, Inc., Thus the (namesake of our Sparks Room). Jackson County built a new clubhouse and restructured the golf course, leaving our building without purpose. The building was in poor repair in the early 1990s. At this point, another local businessman, Frank Myers (namesake of our Myers Room) made it his mission to save our building, and oversaw a major renovations in 1993. He formed a 501(c)(3) nonprofit known as the Cascades Park Foundation whose mission of giving purpose to this building And making it usable for generations to come. Our profits now maintain the building and help fund improvements within the Jackson County Park system.

Cascades Manor was designed by Jackson architect Claire Allen and was built by the North-Moller Construction Company of Jackson. Construction of the original clubhouse project began in the fall of 1929, and the clubhouse opened to the public at noon on Tuesday, May 10, 1932. The intention was that the clubhouse become the “Community Gathering Place” where you could enjoy an excellent meal at reasonable prices, and that is still the intention today.
